For basically the entire season, the Braves’ offense has been stuck in quicksand. It’s been brutal to watch outside of a few outbursts, which is what happens when two bats smack dab in the middle of the order all but disappear.
Over the last month, Marcell Ozuna and Ozzie Albies, who have primarily been slotted fourth and fifth in the lineup, have produced next to nothing offensively. Not including last night, Ozuna has a .157 average and .473 OPS in his last 22 games. Albies hasn’t been much better, hitting just .215 with a .623 OPS in that same span. However, it’s been even worse recently. Over their last 110 plate appearances, the two have combined for 2 wRC+.

You just can’t have that from two guys in the middle of the order for that long of a stretch and expect to win games. Honestly, the fact that the Braves are even close to .500 with the way most of their lineup is producing is quite incredible because it’s not just Ozuna and Albies that have been hitting atrociously.
Adam Duvall has essentially been a free out all season, and even Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley have gone through lengthy slumps at different points. Thank the sweet Lord for the unexpected contributions from the likes of Travis Demeritte, William Contreras, and Orlando Arcia, or the Braves could legitimately be ten games under .500 right now.
