Braves potential trade packages — Brandon Drury

Our series of trade packages for the Braves as the trade deadline approaches rolls on, and this name should be familiar to a lot of fans. Brandon Drury was sent to the Diamondbacks as part of the Justin Upton trade. However, before 2022, Drury was an average player at best, but in Cincinnati, he has been one of the best second basemen in all of baseball:

Even if Ozzie Albies was healthy, Drury would make a potent lineup even more incredible. Without Albies, Drury and his former club seem like a perfect match. If you want to check out any previous editions of this series, check them out below:

Cubs utility man Ian Happ is up next!

The Player

IF Brandon Drury (2022)

Slash Line: .273/.333/.540

Doubles: 18

Home Runs: 18

Runs Batted In: 50

fWAR: 2.2

Although the Braves have a hole at second base, Drury can play all over the diamond — adding even more value to a potential trade. Drury is on a one-year deal, and he’ll be an unrestricted free agent at 30 this offseason. The Braves may not need him next season, but if they’re going to go all in on a rental, they better be pretty sure he’s going to provide them enough to win another championship. Drury isn’t going to come cheap, but with the way he’s hitting, he may be worth any prospects the Braves have to cough up.

The Package

#6 LHP Tucker Davidson, #12 RHP Darius Vines, #25 SS Luke Waddell

Tucker Davidson is obviously the prize jewel of this deal, and he’s a solid centerpiece for a trade involving a rental. Davidson has shown he can cut his teeth in the majors thus far, showing some promise in a few emergency starts when the Braves needed him. The Reds aren’t in a huge rush to develop him. Darius Vines falls into that boat as well in terms of development. He had a strong 2021 season and has the potential to develop into a solid back-end starter or reliever. Waddell had an incredible stretch last year, crushing six home runs in a week. He has been an above average hitter so far in 2022.

So, who says no?
