Doja Cat Leads BET Awards Noms; Lil Nas X Reacts To Getting Snubbed

DOJA SZN

Pop superstar Doja Cat extended her winning streak with SIX BET Awards nominations that include ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artist,’ ‘Best Female Hip-Hop Artist,’ ‘Album of the Year’ (‘Planet Her’), ‘BET Her’ (‘Woman’), ‘Video of the Year’ (‘Kiss Me More’ featuring SZA), and ‘Best Collaboration’ (‘Kiss Me More’ featuring SZA).

Ari Lennox and Drake garnered the second most nods with four nominations each.

Lennox is nominated for ‘Best Female R&B/Pop Artist’, ‘Video of the Year’ (‘Pressure’), ‘BET Her’ (‘Pressure’), and ‘BET Her’ (‘Unloyal’ by Summer Walker & Ari Lennox).

Drake’s nods include ‘Best Male Hip Hop Artist,’ ‘Best Collaboration’ (‘Way 2 Sexy’ featuring Future and Young Thug), ‘Video of the Year’ (‘Way 2 Sexy’ featuring Future and Young Thug), and ‘Album of the Year’ (‘Certified Lover Boy’).

Baby Keem, Silk Sonic, Chlöe, Future, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Mary J. Blige, and Tems are the third-highest with three nominations each.

In an eyebrow-raising twist, Lil Nas X was completely snubbed despite his chart-topping ‘Montero’ album that trended for weeks.

‘thank you bet awards. an outstanding zero nominations again. black excellence! *prayer and white heart emoji*’ he tweeted and deleted.

(Nominations are selected by BET’s Voting Academy comprised of esteemed entertainment professionals in music, TV/film, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, influencers, and creative arts)

Hosted by Grammy-nominated and Golden Globe®-winning actor, writer, director, producer, and philanthropist Taraji P. Henson, this year’s star-studded affair marks twenty-two years of the culture’s biggest celebration of Black excellence.
