Austin Riley has proven his MVP caliber campaign in 2021 was no fluke. He’s pacing the Braves in home runs with 18, which is ninth in all of baseball and third in the National League. He’s on pace for 40 bombs, and none of them have come cheaply. As of yesterday, Riley has the most home runs of over 400 feet with 16.
For the 4th time this season, Yordan Álvarez has hit multiple 400-foot HR in a single game.

There’s an argument to be made that Riley is the most powerful player in all of baseball. I’ve always thought he would eventually become a perennial 40 home run player after hitting 33 last season. 2022 could be the first time he reaches that milestone, but it surely won’t be the last. I’m sure he’ll have a season where he smacks 50 homers, and who knows, perhaps he gets hot enough one year to chase 60 — a number only five players in baseball history have reached, and three of those players were allegedly using performance enhancing drugs.
