Washington’s knack for stingy infield defense is one thing, but he also draws praise for his professionalism and clubhouse presence. This is big coming from a guy who just signed a seven-year, $175 million contract. I was shocked that Ron Washington didn’t get more managerial consideration this offseason, especially with the Padres interviewing him in back-to-back seasons. I would be happy if he got another managerial job, but I’m even happier he’s still in Atlanta with our guys.
